The USS NASSAU was the largest
US Navy ship in the Mediterranean during this time as the
HARRY S. TRUMAN spent the tour in the Persian Gulf.
As the photos depict, she
spent some liberty time in Palma, (Mallorca,) Spain which is
still one of the most popular liberty port for all the crew.
The Cowboy Bar to the joys of Magalluf and the thriving Navy
League organisation mean an efficient USO equivalent to
cater to the tastes of most of the sailors ashore.
Tony Riera's efficient
Husbanding supplies the ship with fresh supplies and after
some 20 years' experience in this field, he is one of the
best!
Of course, Mallorca (Spanish
spelling) is the home of the Majorcan pearls. During
visits to the ship, many sailors bought presents for their
ladies at home. There are a few pictures taken on
board in Malta.

be visiting the next ships coming over to replace you all!
